Aban-8’s ground-breaking endeavour in 2021 set a remarkable precedent in the realm of Sub-Sea Permanent Plug & Abandon (P&A) operations. Collaborating with Bunduq Client, we orchestrated a meticulous P&A campaign for an aging well drilled in 1996, which exhibited gas leakage in 2018. Our team strategically positioned the rig on open water, expertly positioning Sub Sea Blowout Preventers (BOPs) atop well OSII-A using a starter flange—a testament to our technical acumen. This complex operation included the deployment of multiple cement plugs to effectively curtail gas leakages and secure the well.
This achievement underscores our unwavering commitment to industry-leading innovation and operational excellence. Notably, data indicates that optimized P&A methodologies can lead to up to 20% reduction in P&A costs, while effectively curbing environmental risks. Our successful execution, accomplished without any incidents or downtime, highlights our expertise in Sub-Sea P&A—a critical endeavour for long-term environmental and operational sustainability.
